Bassist NEIL MURRAY Will Not Tour With MICHAEL SCHENKER & FRIENDS

December 15, 2007

Bassist Neil Murray (BLACK SABBATH, WHITESNAKE) has confirmed that he will play on the new album from MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP (MSG),entitled "In the Midst of Beauty". Other musicians scheduled to appear on the effort include returning MSG singer Gary Barden, drummer Simon Philips (THE WHO, TOTO) and keyboardist Don Airey (DEEP PURPLE, OZZY OSBOURNE). However, according to Neil Murray, Michael will be utilizing a "different band" when he heads out on a UK tour in January under the MICHAEL SCHENKER & FRIENDS banner.

According to MelodicRock.com, at each show on the MICHAEL SCHENKER & FRIENDS UK tour, Schenker will conduct a signing session at the merchandise stand and will draw out a ticket number from the concert which will then be put into a prize draw at the end of the tour, with a chance to win the guitar Michael used to record "In the Midst of Beauty".

Regarding Michael's current health, Schenker's agent reportedly said: "Michael is doing very well, he is fit, healthy and raring to go with loads of exciting new plans for a world tour."

Michael Schenker's UK tour this past summer was cut short due to a "multitude of events beyond the band's control, including Michael's," according to a posting on Schenker's MySpace page.

Schenker's final gig in the UK took place on August 3 in Stourbridge, U.K. when Michael ended up calling off the concert after only a handful of songs.
